Rumo ao Norte

Com alegria não prevista,
Sem esperar pela má sorte,
Foi com fé nunca vista
Que partimos rumo ao Norte

É de noite, quase faz dia,
Roda o mundo, rodamos nós
Somos sete mais a guia,
Damos vida à nossa voz

Do Porto a Portsmouth
Vai veloz o avião
Se lá boca se diz “mouth”,
Cá se diz “heart” ao coração

O canto que nos sai é um hino
À antiga e bela Europa
Damos luz ao céu londrino
Ninguém desafina a nota

Visit to Portsmouth

January 21, at 6 am, we left Vila Real and went to the airport, to catch a plane to Stansted. With an hour delay (because of the bad weather that was felt all over Europe), we arrived to the United Kingdom. We caught a bus, and, despite a failure and a lot of snow, we managed to reach Portsmouth. On that night we met for the first time our colleagues of the project.
January 22, at 8:30 am we went to London. In Oxford Street, for 1 hour, we went shopping. Later, we had lunch in Covent Garden. Despite being cold, we went for a walk through the streets of London. We saw the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and its gardens. At the end of the walk we went back to Portsmouth, and had dinner all together.
January 23, we went to the docks of Portsmouth and visited a ship that fought on a battle 200 years ago, the Battle of Trafalgar. In front of the ship (the same ship that appears in the film “Les Misérables”, according to the guide) was a museum that told us the story of the Battle of Trafalgar. After lunch, we went to the school of our British friends – Miltoncross School. They made us a tour through the school and in the end we went to a music room and play for each other.
January 24, was the return journey, we arrived at Porto at 8:30 pm. These four days were a great experience because we met new people, new languages, new places and learnt how to interact in a different country with a different language.
